1024×768 may be the king of the resolutions on monitors today, even 800×600 is still somewhat in use. But these guys have not forgotten about the old 640×460. Sleek, stylish nicely formatted content.
I can only guess that they chose for such an outdated resolution due to practical reasons (e.g. not enough content). There’s some beauties in there though… bigcartel is my favorite.

Yeah Big Cartel is really nice (excellent colours) but my fav would be Mad 4 milk, I’m a sucker for good illustration

Actually, I believe that as website designers we tend to buy huge monitors with high-resolution because we need these tools to design and develop more efficiently.
However, we ignore the fact that most people are not designers and many are working from laptops, PDAs and simple but effective workstations, which serve their purpose.
It is our own narcissism and self-absorbtion that we design in 1024×768 and expect the rest of the world to confirm. My hats off to those who can design simply and compactly.

WOW! I got inspired and I will update the design on one of my sites soon. TONYYOO looks very nice . BTW, dario-g has new layout now, so it should be updated or removed from here (?).
